          One of Søren Aabye Kierkegaard’s most celebrated works, Concluding Unscientific Postscript, sold 50 copies in his lifetime.

          Nevertheless, the 19th-century Danish philosopher was confident that history would offer him a warmer reception than his contemporaries did.

          The Swedes were the first to recognize Kierkegaard’s importance, followed by the Germans and the French.
