AUTHOR VIKTORIA VIDALI: After graduating from University of California, Berkeley, California writer Viktoria Vidali married an Italian filmmaker from Rome and with him completed the building of a 57 ft. ketch in Malibu, which they named Arcana ("Mysteries").
Viktoria and Aldo then struck out for unknown adventures, sailing 40,000 nautical miles along the coast of California, Mexico, and into the waters of the South Pacific. They were joined aboard their vessel by their first-born son who adapted naturally to the seafaring life.
Aldo Vidali is an Italian American film author and writer of fiction and nonfiction spanning a period between WWII and the present.
The Arcana and its crew sat contentedly for a year in the romantic harbor of Port Townsend WA awaiting the birth of their second son, then moved south into San Diego's Cleveland National Forest, where the family became landlubbers once again.
During this period, Viktoria was active in preserving the beauty of Southern California and established United Eco-action (UNECO), an environmental and educational nonprofit, to produce documentaries. In 2
