Early Life and Career
Alberta Watson was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.
At the age of 16, she dropped out of high school to pursue her passion for acting, joining a local theater troupe. Her breakthrough role came at the age of 19 in the film "Honor Thy Father". In 1978, she gained recognition for her performance as Mitzi in George Kaczender's "In Praise of Older Women", earning a Genie Award nomination.
The following year, she received the Best Actress award at the Yorkton Film Festival for her role in "Exposure".
Independent Films and Hollywood Success
After living in New Jersey for eight years and divorcing her husband, Watson returned to Toronto and focused on independent films.
